"In contrast another hospital sang the praises of their engineering staff. They were courteous and responsive. They could be depended on to be on time and get the work done efficiently. They were easy to work with and friendly to everybody. After hearing these accolades, I stopped one of the engineering staff in the hallway and told him about what I was hearing about his department. I asked him what they do that makes them so appreciated. He was at a loss to say. In probing, however, **I discovered that anybody is willing to take a work order. You can call the department or stop one of the workers in the hall and make a request. That person will see to it that the request gets handled properly**. Jobs are rarely assigned by a supervisor. Instead, they meet in a huddle every morning with their supervisor to discuss and prioritize the jobs together. Assignments are more or less volunteered for. Everyone feels responsible for all the work instead of just for what the supervisor assigns." --- **Tags** -- [[quotes]], [[organisational-culture]], [[efficiencies]], [[customer-experience]], [[client-service]], [[law-firm-business]] **Source** -- [[20250112015442 - B - If Disney Ran Your Hospital]]
